Job Summary: Diagnose and perform general maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities:
- Use hand-tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and re-assemble equipment.
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Test mechanical products or equipment.
- Maintain or repair work tools or equipment.
- Must have own tools.
- Follow safe work procedures.
- Follow PPE requirements based on location, task, policies, procedures, and Safety Data Sheets
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
- Journeyman status or equivalent experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to job task plan and organize.
- Ability to problem solve, think critically, and make decisions.
- Heavy lifting required.
- Ability to work safely.
- Basic math skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Willingness to mentor apprentices.
Working Conditions:
- 50% inside shop; 50% outside.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Field mechanic duties as required.
- Hours of work: 10 hours per day, 50 hours per week; schedule as per shop foreman
