Overview
An exciting opportunity to be part of our National Discount Category Management Department.
In this role, you will be reporting to the Director of Category Management. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing category plans to deliver merchandising strategies as well as to achieve sales/profit targets for the overall region.
You will be accountable for incorporating customer insight, market analysis and store and market visits to identify category opportunities.
Job Description
Profitability
Ensure banner profitability; develop and execute forecasts to attain all financial target
Review annually and mange CORE agreements
Project Life Cycle
Manage the project life cycle and inventory levels
Monitor and sell through performance
Maximize category performance through the introduction of new innovative products
Develop and manage category and item pricing subject to pricing philosophy loyalty program data
Develop and execute promotional plans; ensure all ads are correct and delivering category strategies; work with Merchandising to develop effective promotions
Negotiate even participation and review HEAT ticket requests
Determine retails, loyalty promotions, forecast volume and gross profits for all ad product
Participate in the development and coordination of plan-o-grams and layout schematics
Manage vendor relations and negotiations to maximize customer and category insight; develop product, proactive and consultative business relationships
Optimize vendor investments to deliver on sales targets (marketing and trade spends)
Communicate and work effectively with procurement and all other departments to achieve product life cycle targets
Job Requirements
An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
Merchandising or retail experience is preferred
Successful experience managing the category and department at Retail, including managing product launches
Motivated to drive growth for the business
Ability to mentor and foster relationships
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong problem solving, decision making and negotiating skills
Ability to manage multiple projects with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
