Powersmiths International Corp. is a member of the Socomec North America group of companies, a global organization with nearly a century of success in providing innovative solutions within the energy industry.
This role is responsible for project management for various products manufactured by Powersmiths. This high impact and strategic role works with the various engineering teams within Powersmiths and the broader Socomec Group while coordinating and monitoring highly technical and complex projects to achieve corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
● Oversee and manage a variety of projects from low complexity to highly complex technical products (e.g., power conversion products), and provide full cycle project management.
● Lead generating engineering cost estimates, budgets, preparation of proposals, project schedules, scope documents and work plans for each project.
● Plan, schedule and coordinate resources to adhere to project schedules, across multiple projects.
● Monitor and control project metrics.
● Analyze and manage project risks, implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the management team.
● Coordinate and monitor all aspects of projects, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, on time, and within the allocated resources.
● Work with cross-functional teams within Powersmiths and Socomec Group to understand product roadmaps and customer needs and execute accordingly. Ensure customer satisfaction.
● Monitor and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, and customers, ensuring concerns are resolved promptly.
● Help to align and streamline processes, and provide trouble-shooting expertise.
● Collect and analyze data to make recommendations in support of process and product improvements
● Lead and coordinate activities related to implementation and maintenance of project management, time tracking and other tools as required.
● Lead and coordinate FMEA activities.
● Champion design reviews (including both technical and gate reviews) and DFX reviews.
● Plan, and coordinate UL/CSA/CE/FCC certification activities.
Drive cost reduction initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
● Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation or working towards it;
● 7+ years’ experience as either a Project Manager or a Program Manager within engineering/manufacturing environment;
● Engineering Degree (in either mechanical or electrical engineering) is strongly preferred;
● Able to manage multiple projects concurrently to ensure work is done correctly and within allocated time and budget;
● Understanding and experience with testing and certification of products (CSA, UL, CE, FCC, etc.);
● Able to analyze, evaluate and formulate accurate project estimates;
● Able to prepare accurate and detailed documentation;
● Organized and methodical;
● Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems;
● Understanding and adherence to quality standards and health and safety processes;
● Strong change management skills;
● Proactive, demonstrates initiative and judgment in order to support project and product development;
● Anticipates and initiates corrective actions;
● Strong verbal and written communication skills with the business acumen to clearly present concepts and ideas both within and outside of the organization;
● Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills:
o able to engage and motivate the team;
o able to handle discussions with customers, including resolving issues diplomatically.
● Promotes and fosters relationships with existing and potential customers and industry associates;
● Consistently demonstrates the highest level of integrity in all interactions and decision-making;

● Very strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Project. Proficient in using Google tools – Sheets, Slides, Docs, Drawings, etc. Able and willing to learn new tools as the business requires;
● Experienced in Microsoft Project, with resource sharing across multiple projects;
● Experience in Excel Power Query and Power BI strongly preferred – or capable / willing to learn quickly;
● Lean Green or Black Belt strongly preferred;
● Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship;
● Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid driver’s license;
● Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
Working Conditions:
● This role is located in Brampton, ON
● Must be available for occasional business travel to international locations
