Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Abilities, Wellness & Ergonomics, the Claims Coordinator is responsible for supporting multiple plants (Brampton, Orlando, Carnatic) with the execution and day to day monitoring of Sofina’s disability management policies and programs and provides administrative support for the purpose of occupational and non-occupational claims management. This includes accountability for the claim management and tracking of occupational and non-occupational claims, identifying and resolving barriers to SAW/RTW of injured or ill employees, initiating, assisting and monitoring accommodation and return to work plans.
Key Accountabilities
- Submit illness/injury claims to WSIB as required to ensure submission deadlines are met.
- Collect information for the purpose of completing and submitting Employer Report of Injury for lost time, medical aid and modified duty injuries.
- Reviewing information for accuracy and determine if the injury/illness meets policy requirements of WSIB and if not, identify objection with reasons.
- Liaison as the primary employer contact with WSIB, initiates and maintains communication with employees, supervisors, HR and Health and Safety partners, for the duration of the employees’ absence, rehabilitation to resolution.
- Lead return to work meetings and monitor return to work plans to ensure early and safe integration back into suitable and productive duties and advise on modifications when necessary.
- Escalate complex claims to internal/external resources to ensure cases are addressed and resolved as soon as possible.
- Maintain accurate records for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Proactively advise management of developments, progress and parameters of return to work and accommodation plans as permitted by professional standards and in accordance with privacy legislation.
- Provide guidance and assist with workers compensation appeals.
- Reporting of key metrics for the purpose of continuous improvement reviews for both occupational and non-occupational disability management.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Health and Safety, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Human Resources, or related field
- 3-5 years of WSIB claims management experience (RTW coordination) in a unionized environment
- A strong understanding of Worker’s Compensation Acts, regulations and policies, disability management practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Human Rights and Labour Law
- Ability to manage case load and meet demanding deadlines
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point

Salary: Up to $70,000.00 per year
