The Role: Research Assistant – Structured Finance Ratings – ABS Non-traditional
The Team: S&P Global Ratings is seeking a Research Assistant to join its non-traditional asset-backed team within the structured finance practice. The Research Assistant will be part of a team which provides and monitors credit ratings and opinions for securitizations backed by a wide variety of nontraditional assets, including aircraft, container, railcar, NNN, and other lease-based products, corporate securitizations, small business, solar, and timeshare loans, among others.
This role blends quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities with strong interpersonal, communication, research, project management, and time management skills. In this role, the Research Assistant will support the sector lead, analytical managers, and senior analysts in administrative tasks, completing the end-to-end ratings process, reviewing documents, assessing the credit profile of collateral pools, conducting cash flow analyses, compiling data sets, creating templates and presentation materials. The Research Assistant will also help track key performance indicators for the analytical managers and sector lead, aggregate data, maintain team presentations, participate in credit rating committees and play an important role in improving our analytical tools and streamlining our processes.

Responsibilities :
Support sector lead, analytical managers, and analysts in administrative tasks, preparing and aggregating key performance indicators, data and presentations, and contribute to the end-to-end ratings process for new issue and surveillance transactions, as needed.
Support analysts in understanding and performing credit and cash flow analysis, synthesize results, and present findings in a timely manner. Review third-party model output and
reconcile with cash flow results from internal models.Support analysts in reviewing and comparing legal and operating documents to ensure consistency with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure. Provide comments to senior analysts and external parties, as requested.
Actively manage relationships with sector lead, analytical managers, and analysts, as requested.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of excel and power point. Understand fundamentals of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis by helping analysts to resolve clients’ analytical questions
Provide research and data to sector lead, analytical managers, and senior analysts and actively help with outreach efforts, including timely commentaries, podcasts, and webinars.

Advanced Excel, Powerpoint, & word experience/skills
Experience with cash flow modeling
Research experience
Admin/Support role experience
Understanding of financial markets
Excellent research skills
Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems with ingenuity in a timely and insightful manner
Project management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines under time pressure
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team
Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed
Undergraduate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with data analysis.
Proven research, verbal, and written communication skills

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $41,100 to $81,575. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
