Job Description:
What will you work on?
As the Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for the oversight of the life cycle of products, including preparation, shipping, and receiving. You will offer support with the maintenance of logistics policies, administer, and maintain inventory control program systems and coordinate with in-house sales team to promote accurate and timely processing of orders for customers. Additionally, you may be required to develop reports showing transportation costs on precise projects and moves.
How will you create impact?
Efficiently match available freight loads with available carrier options.
Build and track freight loads (FTL and LTL) in the Company’s Transportation Management System (TMS).
Manage daily shipment activities, resolving issues to ensure pickup and delivery is on time
Negotiate with trucking companies to select carriers.
Communicate regularly with truckers and carriers to build long-term, trusted partnerships.
Negotiate pricing and prepare quotes for clients.
Maximize brokerage coverage by developing and maintaining excellent relationships with our clients and suppliers.
Complete Routings with all the appropriate documents to provide to our pickup / delivery agents, airlines, and clients.
How will you fit into the team?
Knowledge of outsourced supplier management principles.
Ability to use Key Performance Indicators to drive results.
Fundamental knowledge of key warehousing and inventory management practices.
Ability to utilize data and data access tool to drive data driven results.
Knowledge of transportation management best practices.
Knowledge of systems – Both enterprise (SAP) and warehousing WMS.
Knowledge of EDI B2B Integration.
Ability to proactively support external parties i.e., freight forwarders & 3PLs through an improvement plan with respect to operational functions. Participating and actively to develop a corrective action plan through monthly & quarterly metrics reports/scorecards.
Manage and update standard operating procedures and service level guidelines as required.
Knowledge or risk and controls best practices.
What are your skills and experience?
You will have completed a university degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations.
You will have a minimum of 5 years of related operational or relevant experience in freight forwarding/3PL experience.
Expertise or working knowledge of toys industry is a plus.
Proficiency in Excel & SAP.
Detail-oriented with emphasis on following up in a fast-paced environment.
Interpersonal communication skills, relationship management, and collaboration skills is a must.
Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
