Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Health Records Processing/Transcription, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the CLERK V – HEALTH RECORD COMPLETION is responsible for: reviewing paper and electronic health records to ensure that physician health record completion standards have been met; removing the deficiency flag from the Chart Tracking system; preparing and distributing deficiency and suspension letters to physicians and midwives regarding incomplete charts; preparing and distributing the Physician Incomplete Chart List; assisting physicians and midwives in completing their health records; training physicians and midwives on completion of the electronic Discharge Summary Note; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
One (1) year of experience assembling and analyzing health records in the Health Records Department of a hospital.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk or Clinical Office Assistant Certificate program.
Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology Course. *
Qualifications and Skills
Keyboarding speed: 45 wpm.
Ability to work in a Windows operating environment.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Ability to interact well with others.
Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
Legible handwriting.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with accuracy.
Good telephone manner.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt readily to stressful situations.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
