HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Wage grid: $71,623 to $84,279 (commensurate with experience)
Start date: November 28, 2022

The primary goal of the Human Resources (HR) Manager is to ensure that the organizational structure is in place to provide high quality, person-centered care for our residents and patients in alignment with our values of Dignity, Excellence, Service and Integrity. This dynamic leader leads the development and implementation of Human Resources practices, processes and initiatives to support the overall business strategy of the organization and to provide guidance to the leadership team in all areas of the Human Resources domain. Occupational health, labour relations and staff recruitment are key focus areas. The HR Manager participates as a management team member to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a work environment conducive to staff/team safety and development and a care environment conducive to patient/resident comfort, safety and wellbeing.

Additional duties include:

• Coordinating the work of the Human Resources Department to meet the strategic and operational goals of the organization;
• Overseeing the management of occupational and non-occupational leaves of absence and liaising with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) on claims-related issues;
• Providing guidance to managers in the areas of performance management, attendance support, collective agreement interpretation, workforce planning and staff development;
• Overseeing internal and external job postings and new employee onboarding activities;
• Participating in labour contract negotiation, interpretation and implementation activities; and
• Providing guidance to the leadership team on the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, and union contracts

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation in good standing with the Human Resources Professionals Association
• Bachelor degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field, plus the additional required Human Resources courses for CHRL designation
• At least 5 years of demonstrated hands-on experience in occupational health, injury reporting, leave management, employment law, HRIS, and leadership development
• At least 5 years of Human Resources practice in a unionized environment, with experience in labour relations, contract negotiations, grievance resolution, arbitration processes and contract interpretation
• Excellent communications, negotiating, problem-solving and mentorship skills
• Advanced knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, and related employment legislation is essential
• Experience in strategic planning and organizational development is an asset
• COVID-19 Vaccination (2 Doses) required to work in our facility
