Your Opportunity
The Associate Claims Manager will work closely with and report to Stantec’s Claims Manager. The Manager and the Associate are responsible for the set up and operation of our claims reporting and management process including generation of monthly reports to outside insurers, financial reporting to the CFO and outside auditors as well as the substantive evaluation and management of claims and setting of financial reserves in conjunction with both inside and outside counsel. The Associate will also participate in the development and dissemination of risk management bulletins, project manager training materials, and other claims management tools.
Your Key Responsibilities
Day to day management of professional liability claim matters
Oversight and management of outside counsel
Preparation of claims reports and claims reserve calculations
Review and evaluation of claims evaluation reports, reserve calculations, budgets and litigation plans prepared by counsel
Reporting to and interface with auditors, monitoring counsel, insurance brokers and claims adjusters
Perform risk and business impact analysis related to insurance claims management
Provide advice and services pertaining to the investigation, analysis, reporting and reserving for all claims related matters including acquisition targets
Develop and implement claims management work flows to improve productivity
Completes monthly and bi-annual review of critical reports to ensure completeness and accuracy, and to ensure integrity and reconciliation between systems
The role will interface with leadership, colleagues, customers, vendors, and those entities involved in the claims management process
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Knowledge of complex construction professional liability claims, IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley is generally required to effectively perform duties
Project Management, Construction Management, LLB, CRM, Independent Adjuster would all be considered an asset to the position being offered
Education and Experience
10 years of Claims Management experience; adjusting, examining, legal experience in construction based professional firms
Related degree; preferably in Law
