Your Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced global compensation leader for the Manager, Compensation role in Talent Services. The key responsibilities are managing education programs and consulting on employee compensation programs companywide. The Manager, Compensation will need to possess strategic thinking, aligned with company culture, flexibility to meet demands of different business line and geographic region compensation needs, collaborative approach in building relationships and pivot with a fair amount of agility to meet the demands of this role. The leader will develop the strategy and manage the content for educating Human Resources and all levels of leadership within the business may include but is not limited to base pay, salary structures, budgets, incentive programs, and equity programs. The Manager ensures the strategic alignment of compensation programs and plan designs to Stantec’s strategic business and HR objectives, and jurisdictional compliance. This position must work effectively with other global leaders within HR, Company leaders, vendors, Payroll, Finance, Corporate Development, and IT. This position will present and facilitate senior leader presentations and discussions. This role can be performed from any office location within the United States and Canada.
Your Key Responsibilities
Oversee the strategy and development of education programs for all compensation programs (base pay, short term incentive (STIP), retention and other rewards programs), inclusive of all locations/regions and various audiences
With strong understanding of the business, provide education and insight to the Compensation team and collaborate on program design that meets business needs
Oversee consulting strategy for all compensation programs in all regions
Manage global job structure in direct collaboration with HR Client Services meeting the needs of the business while ensuring administrative efficiency
Oversee compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local compensation legislation, in partnership with other Compensation Manager and HR leaders
Provide expert guidance on global compensation programs and analysis, while collaborating with global colleagues on strategic vision and implementation
Provide effective leadership of staff to ensure key deliverables and projects are accomplished successfully, within budget and on-time. Foster positive engagement and work with team to develop skills and progress in their careers
Provide input to team budget including costs
In partnership with other Compensation Manager, monitor the effectiveness of the Company’s pay programs. Provide recommendations for changes or enhancements as needed through trend analysis, cost benefit analysis, key performance indicators and market intelligence
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
CCP, GRP, CHRP or PHR is an asset
Demonstrated experience leading a strategic compensation design function for a large global company.
Proven leadership skills guiding a team of compensation subject matter professionals through multiple priorities with a focus on action-oriented results.
Distinguished in establishing effective relationships with executive leaders, colleagues in Risk, Finance, HR operations and business partner teams.
Highly effective in communicating complex compensation concepts and design elements.
Respected for balancing strategic and operational tasks with strong organizational and time management skills.
Adaptability to rapidly changing demands.
Regarded as an exceptional communicator and able to influence a broad and diverse range of stakeholders through effective relationships, verbal, and written communication.
Ability to travel as needed.
Proficient MS Office Suite skills preferred.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Liberal Arts, or a related field
Minimum 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job such as those listed above.
Minimum 5 years of people management leadership, in either a direct manager role of a function or program management role coordinating the tasks of multiple stakeholders.
