Your Opportunity
We have an immediate need for a Junior Environment, Health & Safety Compliance/Auditing/Management Consultant. The preferred location for this position is Markham, Ontario. In this role, you will support the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team’s strategy by participating in projects that assist Stantec’s clients to meet EHS regulatory requirements and have effective management systems.
Your Key Responsibilities
Tracking EHS regulatory requirements and preparing reports for clients on relevant updates / amendments to these regulatory requirements
Preparing technical reports, auditing protocols, documentation of audits and management systems, data management and interpretation, and development of graphical and tabular presentation of data
Assisting in the development of EHS compliance programs
Supporting performance of environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance and management systems audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, CSA Z773, etc.)
Assisting with the development of management systems, including developing procedures, developing and delivering EHS training programs
Interacting with project managers, EHS team members, and clients to meet task and budget requirements
You will be trained to take on increasing responsibility within the EHS team completing projects and proposals and will work closely with and support senior EHS practitioners and project managers. This position will require travel to and work at client sites for audits, information gathering and client meetings.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
A strong knowledge of, and experience with EHS regulations in a variety of jurisdictions in Canada
Formal training in, and/or experience conducting compliance and/or management system audits
An understanding of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and similar standards, management systems, and EHS risk
Experience with development and implementation of EHS management systems
Solid analytical, interpersonal and communications skills along with a commitment to continual improvement and innovation
Strong report and procedure writing skills, ability to work to tight deadlines, and able to work in a team setting and individually
Proficiency with Microsoft Office® products and web-based applications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or similar scientific discipline
Experience in the environment and/or health and safety field
Be eligible for, and work towards achieving, an EP(CEA), EP(EMSLA), CHSC, CRSP or other similar professional designation
