Your Opportunity
Our Ottawa, ON office is accepting applications for the prospective opportunity of Survey Crew Chief. This position will report to the Geomatics Team Lead.
Your Key Responsibilities
Field work, calculations and drafting to deliver a high-quality survey product from field to finish
Mentoring of junior field staff to ensure industry best practices are observed in the field and office
Adhere to and promote adherence to Stantec safety policies
Assist in review and processing of collected survey data
Assist in plan reviews
Complete cadastral research to prepare job files
Produce CAD drawings on assigned projects including boundary, topographic, and volumetric surveys
Perform field surveys in all weather conditions
Use GPS RTK and or total stations survey equipment and their respective data collection systems to perform topographical surveys
Work in off road rugged terrain, urban and rural conditions
Work out of town in remote locations throughout Ontario
Research survey records and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed and coordinates findings with the work of engineers, clients and others involved in projects
Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment
Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experienced with survey equipment including: level, RTK GPS and total station
Knowledge of Autocad (version 2016 and higher) and Microsoft Office software is essential
Experience supervising and coordinating junior surveyors
Experience with MTO and Northwestern Ontario coordinate systems is an asset
Thorough understanding of Quality Assurance processes and documentation
Ability to read and understand drawings, contracts and specifications
Valid drivers license and personal vehicle
Education and Experience
Graduate of a university degree or college diploma in Geomatics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
Experience managing a field crew of 1-3 individuals
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Surveyor
