Under the direction of the Quality Supervisor, this role will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled quality audits, inspection and testing of products, as well as audits to the building and equipment infrastructure for the purpose of achieving manufacturing goals, Food Safety and quality standards, consumer/customer expectations and Regulatory requirements.
The Quality Specialist will rotate on Continental 12 hour shifts. After the required on boarding training period, Schedules can be day shift (6 AM to 6 PM),and/ or on night shift (6 PM to 6 AM).
What You’ll Do:
To continuously tour the manufacturing lines auditing the documentation and testing done by production operators following the internal procedures in order to release the product to the market. This documentation includes:
HACCP records, GMP records, net content control, hold and release, specifications, traceability records.
Interact with operators and Production Supervisor to troubleshoot, escalate and take corrective actions if any quality of Food safety deviation is found during the walks.
Fill out and file checklists with the information gathered during the shift.
Spot checks product in warehouse or returned goods.
Tests metal detectors and check weighers to ensure correct function.
Verifies incoming packaging materials against specifications.
Any other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor.
Use the plant’s internal database to obtain current forms and work instructions.
The IDEAL candidate must have:
The successful candidate must be a responsible and reliable self-starter who is capable of working effectively with little supervision.
Diploma/Degree/Certificate in Quality Assurance.
2+ years industry experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
Experience in the Food Manufacturing industry preferred.
Exposure to Quality Systems is preferred, e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC22000, etc.
Strong computer skills (Proficient in Word and Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to read and write English proficiently.
Demonstrated interest and concern for quality and keen observation skills.
A keen desire to learn.
Ability to work independently
Must be a strong performer who demonstrates reliability, an excellent attendance record, excellent team work and strong self-directed individual and group work ethic.
Team player with a positive attitude, working well with others.
Job specific requirements and working conditions:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying levels of noise and temperatures and with requirement to wear PPE such as safety shoes, ear plugs, hair net and safety glasses.
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and capable of the defined physical activities (walk long distances and climb stairs several times a day).
