What would be your responsibilities?
You would be responsible for performing daily inbound and outbound shipping functions, creating accurate shipping documents, and maintaining records of all products shipped and received.
We need you to:
- Manage and schedule incoming/outgoing freight as required. This includes couriers, contractor’s parts/supplies deliveries, etc.
- Verify inbound and outbound shipments to facilitate accurate inventory and bill of lading.
- Create shipments and routes freight to customer destinations.
- Coordinate with various mobile equipment operators when freight arrives at destination.
- Record shipments in appropriate database; generating all required paperwork for shipments (bill of lading, customs papers, freight charges, etc.), forward paperwork as necessary to all appropriate individuals, internal and external.
- Prepare shipments for inventory transfer to other Stella-Jones facilities.
- Daily railcar number verification, as required.
- Verify outbound freight against bill of lading in conjunction with plant personnel.
- Manage CAN/US intercompany shipments.
- Audit freight invoices.
- Monitor railcar pipeline.
- Track detention and demurrage changes.
- Assign carriers to shipments and monitor carrier performance.
- Collaborate with transportation team to optimize efficiency.
- Monitor the order file to maintain onetime shipments.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to organize shipments as required.
- Proactively provide updates to sales staff and customers regarding any shipment issues or delays.
- Perform the work safely according to applicable codes, standards and to Stella-Jones health and safety program.
- Provide freight rates for current carriers from established rate data to sales staff for the purpose of quoting new business.
- Work with transportation management team to expand carrier base as business needs require.
