The Accounting Manager will supervise accounting staff and will provide support to the finance department by performing a variety of general accounting tasks including assisting in the preparation of the month end and year end financial statements, reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform analysis of accounting and financial data.
The candidate will be responsible to ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control.
This position will work closely with the Director of Finance & Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager and will be also responsible for performing a variety of general accounting support tasks.
Responsibilities
Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff – establishing objectives, monitoring and supporting day-to-day activities, and evaluating employee performance
Review all payables and disbursements for completeness and accuracy
Maintain the general ledger including creation and mapping of accounts, reconciliation of accounts, preparing monthly journal entries,
Prepare/ maintain WIP and perform job costing analysis on a monthly basis
Coordinate month end close process – ensure all internal and external deadlines are met in accordance with pre-established timelines
Analyze financial data for accuracy and involve appropriate personnel to ensure discrepancies are resolved
Complete all other assignments duties and projects as assigned
Positive attitude and hands on approach in proactively partnering with employees at all levels to achieve results
Maintain accurate supporting documentation for all accounting transactions
Assist in the preparation of year end working papers and various external audits, as required
Assist with cash management review/reporting
Educational Requirements
University Degree or Business Diploma within a business and/or accounting curriculum
Skills and Knowledge/Experience Requirements
3 years of relative experience in accounting with 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a construction environment
Experience with Quick Books and Jonas preferred
Intermediate to advanced level skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
Expense in a multiple company environment
