Job Description:
Client Service Centre’s (CSC) Financial Services Consultants (FSC) and Retirement Consultants (RCs) are high-performers who want to continuously improve how they serve our clients. This exciting, new role complements our training teams (which primarily focus on onboarding new FSC team members) and works closely with Sales Managers to build targeted performance strategies for teams and team members.
What will you do?
Recommend and implement strategies that enable FSCs and RCs to improve on their sales performance, including leading practices, toolkits, time management strategies and personalized assessments.
Identify needs and skill gaps and provide one-on-one support to FSCs and RCs to increase effectiveness.
Using assessment tools, consistently monitor team member’s performance including trends and identify specific skill/gaps to ensure training objectives are satisfied.
Build accountability among FSCs and RCs with the intent to adopt best-in-class client servicing behaviors.
Deliver insights on best practices from outside the CSC and Sun Life and assess the applicability to CSC.
In coordination with the sales management team, provide guidance to career paths for the FSCs and RCs supported by self-assessments, training, and resources that allow for growth within the CSC’s Sales team.
Partner with Sales Managers and Sales Enablement in developing consultants through training and development programs, and aligned rewards and recognition programs.
Partner with Training and Quality teams to identify opportunities and trend analysis to help determine and provide training sessions and solutions to address areas for improvement, best practices, proven tactics and sales presentation.
Partner with Business Improvement and Sales Innovation (BISI) and Sales teams on best practices and tools related to sales effectiveness and client experience.
Continuously work with licensed sales staff to improve knowledge levels of financial markets, wealth and insurance products, and retirement planning, while also enhancing their proficiency in providing financial advice.
What do you need to succeed?
Self-starter, able to identify problems and deliver practical solutions.
Strong knowledge of insurance, wealth products and a good understanding of the characteristics of the market.
Extensive outbound and inbound call center experience.
Strong mentoring, coaching, performance management, leadership and influencing skills.
Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation, relationship building and teamwork skills.
Track record of developing successful teams.
Experience with financial planning tools.
Ability to be successful working within a geographically diverse team.
Bilingualism (French, English) required – interactions with English and French-speaking leaders, colleagues and partners.
Qualifications
Sales experience within the financial services industry.
Previous corporate coaching/training/performance management experience.
Completion of a college or university degree in a related discipline.
Completion of the Canadian Investment Fund Course (IFIC) or Canadian Securities Course (CSC.)
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or Financial planner designation (IQPF).
Valid and active Life Insurance License (LLQP) or Insurance of person license in Quebec (1a).

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
