Sunbeam Community and Developmental Services invites applications for
Payroll and Benefits Administrator – 37.5 hours per week
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, as the Payroll and Benefits Administrator you will bring a hands-on work ethic in the fulfillment of your responsibility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Performing the internal audit function of employee set up and the bi-weekly payroll
· Tracking eligibility dates for employment benefits and assisting new hires in enrollment
· Ensuring accuracy of monthly benefit statements and changes
· Entering approved changes to employee payroll records
· Reconciling all source deductions and benefit clearing accounts
· Monitoring entitlement banks and following up on inquiries with all levels of the organization
· Calculating vacation entitlements for all staff and ensuring payout of vacation banks when requested for part time employees
· Preparing annual reconciliations and statutory reporting, including source deductions, T4/T4A
· Calculating and completing adjustments required due to contract settlements
· Preparing and remit union dues and donation payment and reports on a monthly basis
· Reconciling and remitting pension contributions monthly and submitting the annual information return to the Pension Commission of Ontario
· Preparing requested information for the annual financial statement and pension audits
· Preparing Records of Employment for employees where there is an interruption in service
· Calculating maternity SUB top up payments and forward for payment
· Calculating and requesting manual payroll cheques when required
· Maintaining electronic and paper-based filing of payroll records
· Recording of cash receipts and preparing bank deposits
· Managing and reconciling administrative petty cash
The ideal candidate will be a team player and a self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Sound knowledge of principles and practices of payroll and benefits administration. The skills and knowledge required for this position are normally associated with the possession of some recognized accounting and payroll courses from a post-secondary institution, payroll certification or equivalent work experience. Experience working with Ceridian Dayforce (and/or any other web-based payroll system), Great Plains Dynamics and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) are considered assets. Experience working in a unionized environment and in the not-for-profit sector are preferred.
