Summary Of Duties
The Pre-Anesthesia Clinic RN is responsible for the pre-operative assessment and optimization of patients undergoing a variety of surgical interventions. The primary focus of the RN includes physical, psychological assessment, and education regarding post-operative recovery, pain management, and other health teaching instruction in preparation for patients prior to surgery. The PAC RN must support the Philosophy of Person Centred-Care and the Mission Vision and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RN works closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of care to each patient daily.
Qualifications/Skills
- Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration
- Current BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Must have recent, related PACU or ICU experience
- Successful completion of Physical Assessment course is preferred
- Critical Care Courses strongly preferred
- Demonstrated excellent physical, health and psychological assessment skills
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful environment
- Demonstrated appropriate computer skills
- In-depth knowledge of the effects of General and Regional Anaesthetics
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills required.
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Venipuncture IV certification and ECG skills required
- Proven ability to promote Person Centered Care
- Demonstrated commitment to Person Centred Care approach and principles
