Do you like working with people? In a team? Do you have a passion for mental health? Are you interested in working in a private, multi-disciplinary mental health care facility? Come live the Pacific Northwest dream in the beautiful community of Powell River on BC’s Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Health Centre (SCHC) and Georgia Strait Women’s Clinic (GSWC) are an ever-growing organization currently with 32 inpatient beds for men and 9 for women receiving treatment for addictions, mental health, and trauma. SCHC/GSWC values being a part of a growing wave of progressive, inclusive, and pioneering employers and mental health facilities that prioritize the care of their clients and staff. The organization is also licensed under the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, accredited under Accreditation Canada, and a Certified B Corp.
Looking ahead to the addition of a psychedelics program later this year as well as enhanced existing services such as rTMS, we are looking to add a psychotherapist to our clinical team. Our psychotherapists facilitate group and individual sessions with clients in our inpatient programs as well as provide specific therapies and specialties (some examples include EMDR, Hypnotherapy, and Somatic Counselling). Psychotherapists will also provide support to family members of clients and work alongside the Clinical Report Writer for progress and discharge summaries for clients in their caseload.
The current schedule for our psychotherapists consists of 7.5-hour shifts (with a 30-minute lunch break) four days a week, with an optional fifth “flex” day during the week. They work in a team format with one other psychotherapist and dedicated clinical support staff (aka team leaders as well as RPNs). The current opening is looking for someone to manage a shared caseload of clients from both our men’s and women’s programs.
