The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the organization’s finance and accounting functions including planning, implementing, and managing diverse financial activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Company’s general ledger and chart of accounts
- Compile and post period end, fiscal year end, and tax year end closing entries
- Compile and post bi-weekly payroll journals and reconcile to payroll system
- Maintain the Company’s capital asset continuity file and post all required entries
- Prepare financial statements and all supporting reconciliations for fiscal year end external audit and tax year end compilation
- Serve as backup for GST, Tourism Levy, Tourism Improvement Fee, and provincial sales tax returns
- Assist with the development of departmental budgets and variance analysis
- Deliver period end financial reporting for timely review
- Prepare specified reporting resources as required by the executive and defined by the Business Analyst
- Treasury management and reporting
- Assist with directing and training accounting staff
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and income tax regulations and requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Skills, and Licensing Requirements:
- CPA, or currently enrolled in the latter stages of the CPA program (and nearing completion)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Previous accounting work experience in a multi-departmental company/organization
- Proficient in Microsoft suite applications, including advanced Excel skills
- Experienced with Power BI, Tableau, QlikView or other data tools
- Previous experience with payroll systems such as Ceridian Dayforce-
- Previous experience with accounting systems such as SAP
