Role:
The purpose of this role is to efficiently book and manage all site controlled Inbound Freight via Outside Carrier and/or Sysco Fleet. In addition, this position is to be an income contributor to the Company via the load profitability of the portfolios that are managed. This position plays an integral role in many aspects of our business. This position is responsible for being a profit centre, LEI (Logistics Earned Income), thru maximization of load fill and consolidation, is a key contributor to our Operational efficiencies via how loads are coordinated and booked (Inbound CPMH, Operations Cost per Piece, Fleet / Backhaul Utilization, etc.). The Logistics position also supports our Customer PIP/Fill Rates thru ensuring proper load tracking, pickup and appointment scheduling and exception assistance.
Role Responsibilities:
Coordinates with Houston Logistics Planning group (NITC) all site designated pickups thru utilization of TMS Freight System.
Communicates applicable transport designations to the NITC Planner
Analysis of new freight opportunities to increase site-controlled pick ups
Conversions, setup and implementation of new freight opportunities.
Analysis of load consolidation opportunities to maximize efficiencies and profitability
Coordination and implementation of load consolidation
Responsible for individual and overall load fill percentages on controlled freight.
Responsible for individual and overall profitability dollars on controlled freight.
Review and follow up with carriers regarding meeting pickup and delivery windows.
Develop and Maintain strong working relationships with Opco Merchandising and Operational Teams.
Processes applicable documentation and manages all aspects of outside carrier claims inclusive of working thru closure with appropriate Corporate departments and designates.
Provides coverage and/or assistance where applicable for other site Logistics.
Cross Border paperwork processing when required
Reviews proposed logistics conversions to determine viability and profitability
Analyze inbound freight with other sites with in region for the possibility of shared trucks to eliminate lost earned income.
Log carrier and vendor service issues in Sales Force
OS&D reporting to carrier and Merchandising team within 24 to 48 hours
Work with QA, operations and carrier on mitigating claims where possible
Monitor differential and no freight item report make applicable adjustments and updates
Collaborate with Corporate Logistics team for problem resolution and emergency situations
Work with operations team to resolve live detained carriers
Validate detention in and out times within 48-hour time frame and enter in TMS detention module
Provide documentation for the inbound scheduler to enter receiving appointments for all logistic loads and backhauls
Supply list of backhauls to the Transportation team daily so they secure pick up appointments in advance and route according.
Discuss possible conversion to backhaul program with Transportation Manager
Confirm and review that all backhaul pick-ups were complete as assigned and work transportation team on resolution of any ongoing issues
Work with receiving to balance inbound loads
Managing load efficiency and profitability in the Transportation Management System, (TMS) by running Unplanned Filters, Daily Load Filters, Backhaul Filters and Work In Progress (WIP) Filters.
Accountable for all cost/operational/service related KPI’s for Inbound Logistics
Review daily activity report
Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
2 years of experience in distribution, logistics, routing or operations.
Experience in managing work flow centered functions would be considered an asset
High school minimum.
College or university degree in Supply Chain / Logistics related fields would be considered an asset.
Experience with TMS Logistics Program.
Strong understanding of transportation rules and regulations
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools required – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Experience with AS400 is an asset
