TAAG Looking for Staff Accountants at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Full Time

TAAG Accounting is looking for an experienced Staff Accountants to join the firm (Ottawa or Arnprior office location). This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual seeking to join a growing firm that offers both support and mentorship. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and take a solution-oriented approach to fulfill all aspects of the accounting and taxation processes for clients.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Accounting Practices:

• Complete full cycle accounting.
• Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial bookkeeping and period end closing.
• Prepare and review:
• Timely and accurate journal entries as required.
• Regular financial reports, income statements, balance sheets and statement of cash flows.
• General ledger accounts activities to ensure account accuracy of financial statements.
• HST returns and Payroll remittances.
• Periodic bank reconciliations.
• Accurate and timely Personal and Corporate tax returns and related schedules.
• Confirm tax assessments and reassessments.
• Coordinate with accounting clerks to prepare monthly and quarterly analysis.
• Research and analyze income tax issues, summarize findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations.
• Work with the management team in various related accounting activities.

Client and Team Relations:

• Provide support and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
• Engage and promote firm services.
• Collaborate and engage with other members of the Staff Accounting team.

Candidate Profile:

• Minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
• Experience working with Small/Medium Businesses.
• Have an accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA, CPA) or a post-secondary degree in accounting and in pursuit of CPA.
• Knowledge or exposure to GAAP/ASPE is preferred.
• Good knowledge of Excel, Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Tax prep and CaseWare.
• Capable of handling challenging situations.
• Ability to problem-solve and use good sound judgment.
• Effective communication and the ability to answer clients’ questions in writing, by phone and in-person.
• Self-assured with promoting firm services, working on/off-site with clients.
• Quality and detail oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Collaborative team player.
• Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
