Takla Nation is a vibrant First Nation, dedicated to creating a healthy, sustainable and prosperous community, that is grounded in culture and respectful of their traditional lands. Within the Takla Landing Community is a positively engaging elementary school located in the heart of Northern British Columbia. Currently, we are seeking an enthusiastic Certified Teacher to teach kindergarten and grade 1 and 2 for the Nus Wadeezulh Community School. In this role, the incumbent will engage children in literacy, numeracy and social responsibility rooted in a positive and accepting approach.

Successful applicants will:

• Be a great communicator who perseveres when faced with challenges;
• Possess solid instructional skills and can deliver BC Ministry of Education curriculum in a culturally responsive manner;
• Be a Certified Teacher in BC or eligible for certification;
• Experience working with and supporting students with special needs and students who are not yet meeting expectations in their grade level is helpful;
• Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and can engage students to promote learning and confidence in a variety of ways;
• Experience teaching in a First Nation School preferred; and,
• Embrace a school-wide approach to teaching.

Requirements:

• Education Degree / Teaching Certification are required
• Solid instruction skills and capable of delivering BC Ministry of Education curriculum in a culturally responsive manner
• A successful Criminal Record Check for vulnerable is required
• First Aid would be an asset
