CONTEXT
We are currently looking to fill a full-time position for a Building Engineer within our Facilities Infrastructure Management (FIM) team based out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The FIM mandate is to support our international Points of Presence by ensuring all building, equipment, administrative offices and related systems are up and running at 100% uptime in line with available redundant systems. The building engineer will provide appropriate recommendations to our site teams to ensure medium and long-term issues of applicable data centers are resolved as well as be the go-to person for building optimization from an energy efficiency standpoint.
Recent bachelor’s degree finalists or working towards it (75% complete) will be considered.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The duties of the Building Engineer are to develop systems and solutions to enable long term reliability of building infrastructure and related appurtenances in line with driving energy and sustainability plans to foster an increase in “green” infrastructure as applicable and where appropriate. The Building Engineer will oversee the Design Engineering, Project management, operations support and feasibilities for all facilities of Tata Communications under scope. Responsibilities shall also include providing innovative suggestions on improving energy efficiency and creating synergy with all physical aspects of building modifications and design.
The candidate to have an aptitude for electrical power systems and design.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate should have a basic knowledge of the specific requirements below:
- Lifecycle of industrial buildings and related appurtenances
- Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical and Civil engineering disciplines with capabilities to read single line electrical drawings and mechanical PID, etc.
- Project management principles for implementing Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Energy related projects in a Data Center/Telecom environment.
- Familiarity with building infrastructural elements such as: UPS, Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Switchgear, Fire Systems, etc.
- Familiarity with plumbing, hydraulics (pumps, fuel systems), refrigeration (R22, R134a)
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems and Alarm Integration
- Familiarity with building structural properties and requirements
- Familiarity with managing Preventative Maintenance plans and software available to implement PM.
- Microsoft Office suite of products
- AutoCAD suite of products
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or working towards it (75% complete)
Achieve professional engineer status with the Order of Professional Engineers of Quebec within 3 years of employment
Bilingual: English proficient/French functional
