The Labourer position requires the ability to work within a team safely and efficiently to install shallow communication utilities. The Labourer will report to the Foreman or Lead-Hand on-site. This position may be seasonal depending on annual work load. The candidate MUST possess a valid Class-5 driver’s license or greater. Experience in communication civil construction will be an advantage but not required will train the right individual with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Installing wire/cable, precast concrete bases, laying underground cable, putting together conduit, sanding cable with shovel, moving material, swamping for excavators, driving company vehicles, and clean up jobsite daily
Ability to lift 50lbs and be physically fit for labour duties on a construction site
Operate jumping jacks, plate tampers, and other handheld or portable equipment
Must be able to perform physically demanding duties while working safely at all times
Learn to read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given
Must be able to effectively communicate and carry out tasks as provided done correctly and within provided timeline
Possibly operate skid-steer and other motorized construction equipment on-site
Go through TC orientation, carrying out all tasks per training and guidelines provided
Complete daily time sheets, force-account records, pretrip vehicle inspections and other paperwork as assigned
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification Requirements
Must have a valid Class-5 driver’s license. (Q-endorsement or Class-1 is a benefit)
Must be able to pass security screening
Must be physically fit
Able to work 10+ hours a day – 6 days a week
Strong team member with a positive attitude
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
