The opportunity:

As an Accounts Payable Associate you will provide financial, administative and clerical support to our finance team.

Duties include:

• Retrieving vendor invoices and verifying for accuracy.
• Calling and emailing vendors to resolve discrepancies.
• Posting vendor invoices into our accounts payable system.
• Adding credits and debit notes for vendor returns and vendor kick-backs.
• Making payments to vendors in CAD and USD.
• Deducting credits from payments.
• Applying quick-pay discounts.
• Matching up payments to invoices, including large volume accounts.
• Calling and emailing vendors for statements and verifying for accuracy.
• Following up continuously with vendors to ensure credits are being applied to our account.
• Maintaining excellent relationships with vendors.
• Thorough evaluation of vendor accounts to negotiate the best terms and discounts available.
• Creating administrative reports and debit notes including POS and sell-thrus.
• Entering credit card purchases.
• Reconciling shipping invoices.
• Filing and other general office duties.
• Providing credit application information to vendors and negotiating payment terms.

Looking for an individual who:

• Has a good understanding of accounting concepts, balancing and reconciling.
• Has experience working with and understanding the use of spreadsheets.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to type fluently.
• Is detail oriented, highly organized and accurate.
• Has excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Team player with a cooperative approach when dealing with vendors and coworkers.
• Can multi-task and prioritize while under pressure in a busy work environment.
