Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the daytime dispatcher provides troubleshooting support for our
Professional Drivers and by extension, our Operations teams in the Winnipeg Terminal through the efficient and professional administration of full-cycle internal and external customer service duties.
Dispatch experience, strong and professional interpersonal and communication skills, thinking outside the box and a positive attitude a must. This position is a great opportunity to showcase one’s strategic thinking and leadership skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

KEY FOCUS:

• Communicate individual trip instructions/requirements to drivers and partner carriers and monitor shipments to assure successful delivery.
• Provide guidance, support, and direction to drivers when required and verify accuracy of trip information submitted.
• Matching drivers, trucks, and trailers to orders based on load requirements and qualifications while optimizing fleet resources
• Ensuring drivers have adequate hours of service
• Arranging for equipment to be available for fleet maintenance
• Contacting off duty drivers to provide trip instructions for next on-duty status
• Communicating with drivers on any deviations with planned loads
• Communicating schedule requests to Terminal Manager
• Ensuring payload is up to maximum GVW and was loaded as per instructions
• Communicating changes to planned orders and update system as required
• Communicating directly with customers and entering orders when required to ensure plan accuracy and fleet optimization
• Completing Driver Payroll
• Administering other duties as assigned in support of the operation and fleet.

Job Description – Dispatcher, Days

• Ensure loads assigned to partner carriers are executed in a manner that exceeds customer expectations.
• Monitor trailer pools and communicate imbalances to stakeholders, coordinate movement of equipment to corporate facilities within maintenance intervals.
• Assist in resolving urgent and non-urgent issues to all dispatchers.
• Monitor fleet safety and compliance issues and communicate to Safety department.
• Track and trace shipments and report status to stakeholders and customers as required.
• Process cross border documentation on behalf of drivers to facilitate cross-border travel for all

CDA/USA drivers.

• Handle incoming customer inquiries including scheduling p/u and delivery appointments.
• Update service performance information and communicate to stakeholders.

SKILL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

This role must demonstrate the following competencies:

• Experience with windows-based programs is required; must be computer literate and savvy.
• High level of communication skills; both verbally and written.
• Forward thinker – must be able to plan and foresee potential issues that may require the plan to be adjusted.
• Must have strong organizational, interpersonal as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition.

• Experience with MS Office specifically in Excel and Outlook. Experience with Transportation based software and GPS Telematics.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $43,160.00-$50,000.00 per year
