Our client has an urgent requirement for a Senior Data Analyst
Description of Services
Responsible for taking business requirements and translating them into technical requirements and solutions.
- Create project documents and associated planning documents.
- Create stakeholder analyses.
- Lead consultations and facilitate stakeholder meetings.
- Create business requirements, functional specifications and technical requirements.
- Create new business and technical processes and complete business process reviews/re-engineering for existing processes.
- Facilitate business process improvement sessions.
- Assist in the development of new IT services.
- Schedule, organize and lead project status meetings and other meetings as required.
- Provide support by bridging communication between vendors, client ministries, and corporate technical and business teams.
- Escalate unresolved issues/risks, options and recommendations.
- Responsible for business architecture design, software system specifications design, and database modelling.
- Participate iterative development using model-based processes .
- Perform project management, business and technical analysis and systems design in delivering complex software solutions spanning n-tier development environments.
- Produce project artifices with XML; UML and/or other web-services technologies.
- Prepare, update and manage documents defining the business requirements, software requirements, functional design, and project plans and schedules reflecting achievable deliverables for the applications.
- Prepare regular project status reports indicating project deliverables, possible risk and issues, time-lines and anticipated effort.
- Ensure appropriate project communication occurs to all parties involved during all phases of the project.
- Identify required user training.
- Additional responsibilities as required by the Project Manager for a Business Analyst or Lead Technical Analyst role
Mandatory Skills:
- Experience working with clients/stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
- Experience translating business requirements to technical requirements.
- Experience in developing, implementing and operating Information and Data Management frameworks.
- Experience dealing with business clients and technical teams and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner.
- Experience creating flowcharts/diagrams/analyses, including but not limited to activity, process flow, data flow, entity relationship, mind map, roadmap/plan, gap analysis, organizational chart, SWOT analysis, RACI matrix, UI wireframes, user personas/journey maps.
- Candidate must be willing and able to work full-time, in-person in client office(s) in Edmonton, Alberta and/or work remotely, at the client’s discretion. (No funding will be provided by the client for relocation or travel to work or meetings.)
- Proposed resource must have own computer equipment and be comfortable using it for completion of work required by this contract.
Desired Skills
- Experience working with clients/stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
- Experience translating business requirements to technical requirements.
- Perform IT and/or business-related analysis, diagnosis, problem-solving, communication, presentations, planning, estimating, and documentation.
- Experience with data governance.
- Experience assisting clients execute strategies with technology, process, organizational design, and IT operations.
- Experience creating flowcharts/diagrams/analyses, including but not limited to activity, process flow, data flow, entity relationship, mind map, roadmap/plan, gap analysis, organizational chart, SWOT analysis, RACI matrix, UI wireframes, user personas/journey maps.
- Experience creating new technical and/or business processes.
- Experience with BI/data visualization tools (above and beyond spreadsheet software) as an end-user and/or in projects to implement such tools in a large enterprise environment.
- Experience in Agile Projects.
- Experience in planning, monitoring, documenting, and performing User Acceptance Testing.
- Experience working for or in an organization of similar size and complexity as the Government of Alberta.
- Experience working on multiple projects currently, spanning multiple technical environments.
- Experience developing training strategies and materials, and delivering training.
- Communicating with multiple levels of staff directly and/or in meetings, including management and executives.
- Direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis related to 4 or more of the following areas: data management, acquisition, preparation, quality and data lineage/provenance
data modeling, ingestion, ETL, ELT, data joins
data manipulation/transformation,cleansing and wrangling
data security,data privacy,policies, data de-identification/anonymization, data audits/reviews, synthetic data
data analysis, data analytics, data visualization,data science, data mining”
