Hardware Design Integration Coordinator

The Hardware Design Integration Coordinator will help ensure the Telesat Lightspeed system deliveries of hardware and hardware-related documentation between organizations are provided in a timely, mutually agreed way that satisfy the technical and programmatic needs of the program. Additionally, the Hardware Design Integration Coordinator will identify and work across the organization to coordinate new processes, initiatives, and changes that will improve efficiency, quality, schedule, or performance, focusing on those related to hardware.
This position will work under the Telesat Lightspeed Program Delivery organization (TLPD), reporting to the Telesat Lightspeed Program Delivery Manager, and will support all HW-related segments across the Telesat Lightspeed program. The ideal candidate has significant previous experience in hardware development and integration on complex satellite-basedprograms, is able to effectively engage parties on both sides of an interface to quickly drive to solutions, andis eager to be an integral part of a fast-paced and dynamic environment to build the most innovative satellite communications network in the world with unmatched speed and performance.
Main Responsibilities
Work across the Telesat Lightspeed program organizations managing HW and document deliverables between different parts of the organization (HW Interdependencies)
Coordinate between segments, taking an active role identifying and driving all open points or issues to resolution
Work with both delivering and receiving owners of an interdependency to: Develop and agree on Data Item Descriptions, delivery dates, and acceptance criteria; Ensure inter-segment buy-off of deliveries; Anticipate potential issues and address them with both parties, identifying changes to existing interdependencies or adding new ones; Facilitate resolution of schedule and functionality disconnects, involving System Engineering or other engineering resources as needed; Identify and escalate issues to technical or program management as necessary for resolution
Develop and implement improvement Initiatives: Identifying areas of improvement in team coordination, communication, processes, and tools to achieve better efficiency, quality, schedule, or performance; Working across the organization to develop these initiatives, gain support, and get approval; Focusing on improvements related to software but could be in any domain
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of related experience in hardware engineering and integration for complex development programs
Ability to assess technical status and issues in a hardware development environment
Experience in project management in assessing impact of delays to deliveries and possible work-arounds
Excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with engineers, internal and external stakeholders, senior management and staff
Ability to convey status and issues clearly, concisely and accurately
Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
Strong organizational skills
Skill in influence management to help broker solutions across organizations
A team player, collaborative and independently driven
Must demonstrate a flexible, open-minded attitude and have strong interpersonal skills
High-level of expertise with Microsoft Office suite; Excel, Project, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
Decision Making and Supervision
Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of software solutions and their ability to satisfy requirements. The incumbent will need to make recommendations and decisions based on his or her experience,
Exercises independent judgment in planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling and monitoring activities,
Exercises initiative and sound judgment in adapting procedures to address unusual situations and resolve conflicts.

General office environments
Full-time office or hybrid 60/40 office/remote, subject to work needs
Prefer Telesat Ottawa office based, exceptional candidates based from another Telesat location will be considered
Occasional travel, including international travel is anticipated
