The Business Inn hotel and MacLaren’s on Elgin are looking for a culinary employee that is passionate about food and who will be involved in the long-term success of our businesses.
You will be scheduled for 5 day day shifts for approximately 40 hours per week, guaranteed year round.
You will be working the hotel breakfast from 6am-10am, followed by prepping in the restaurant from 10am-2pm.
We offer a free benefits package after 3 months of employment: we cover 80% of prescriptions up to $1,000. per year and 80% of dental/vision up to $1,000. per year, and a CAA membership with the option of both life and critical illness insurance.
Reliability, working with other team members, quality control, attention to detail, working under pressure, and ability to contribute to menu development are essential to this position.
You must be open to taking direction from ownership and receiving constructive feedback.
Contributions to meetings, recipes, menus direction, and kitchen improvements are essential.
Work Setting: Restaurant with Hotel attached (170 rooms)
Cuisine: Canadian / Italian
Food Preparation: soups and sauces, baking breads, desserts, pastas, seafood, grilling chicken and beef, etc.
Kitchen Skills: using kitchen equipment, preparing, garnishing and presentation of food, ensure quality of food and portion control, etc.
Daily duties: kitchen cleaning and setup, opening check list, closing cleaning duties, receiving orders, organizing stock, temperature checks, etc.
You must have a currently valid Canadian Food Safety/Handler Certification.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
