CONTEXT
The SAH Navigation Unit (NU) supports the Canadian Refugee Sponsorship Agreement Holders Association (SAH Association), and SAH Council as the Association’s elected governance body, in strengthening the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR), Blended Visa Office-Referred (BVOR), and Joint Assistance Sponsorship (JAS) Programs, as the number of refugees resettled to Canada under these programs continues to grow.
The SAH Navigation Unit is instrumental in:
Bringing the collective voice and experience of the Association to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC);
Disseminating information to Association members; and
Designing solutions with the SAH Council and IRCC to address policy and operational challenges in the PSR and BVOR programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aligned with the vision, mission and values of the Canadian Refugee Sponsorship Agreement Holders Association (SAH) Association, the Sponsorship Allocations and SAH Capacity Fund Development Coordinator provides support in the allocation of spaces for the private sponsorship of eligible Afghan refugees under Operation Afghan Safety (OAS), and in the development of the SAH Capacity Endowment Fund.
Special Initiatives Allocations and Linkages (75%)
Works to coordinate interest in special sponsorship initiatives at a national level, including working with PSRP partners and non-traditional actors
Receives and screens special initiative eligibility check lists as required
Tracks and manages requests for sponsorship spaces (“allocations”) for Operation Afghan Safety (OAS) and other special initiatives
Reconciles database reports, and resolves discrepancies as needed
Works closely with the Allocations Coordinator & Allocations Committee, including for other PSR space allocations as required, for example for holiday coverage
Contributes to the NGO-Gov Allocations Working Group
Responsible for liaising with SAHs and IRCC regarding OAS in a timely and accurate manner
Represents the interests of SAHs as related to allocation needs
Creates and delivers presentations re: OAS allocations if required
Tracks issues relating to OAS and/or allocations
Monitors and evaluates OAS NU project resources, processes and progress; identifies risks and obstacles and takes or recommends action to address
Provides regular updates to the Senior Program Manager
Conducts post implementation review at the conclusion of the project
SAH Capacity Fund Development (20%) – NB: This is under development and subject to change
Convenes Fund partners for planning and coordination as needed
Responsible for distribution oversight and may be responsible for distributing funds according to the Fund Allocation Guidelines
Regularly reviews Fund Allocation Guidelines and proposes revisions as necessary
Develops parameters for evaluating the ongoing success of the SAH Capacity Fund, including social and economic impacts
Seeks and obtains funds for SAH Capacity Endowment, through major gifts and other methods
Conducting evaluation of the Fund, including analysis and reporting to SAH Council
Tracks issues related to SAH capacity
Produces fund-related reports for donors and other stakeholders as required
General (5%)
Functions as part of the remote Navigation Unit (NU) team
Attends and/or hosts meetings as required
Provides progress reports to SAH Council as requested
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of migration issues and the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program (PSRP)
A detail-orientation, while also staying current on key issues impacting the PSRP
The ability to work in Canada
The ability to work remotely, including access to a suitable workspace & reliable internet
NB: Required equipment, such as a computer and printer, can be provided
High detail-orientation for accurate and efficient data entry
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional languages considered an asset)
High sense of integrity and alignment with the Association’s values
Cultural humility, fluency and competency
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with limited supervision
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated resourcefulness, mental agility, and openness to change
Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize information from different sources, identifying key themes and issues
Post-secondary education in a related field
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years database experience
Minimum 2 years successful fund development experience
Demonstrated experience coordinating a complex project, including stakeholder engagement
Knowledge of the PSRP and/or newcomer services, supports, challenges and assets
Working knowledge of privacy and confidentiality legislation and best practices
A high level of comfort with and knowledge of various technological platforms, for example, but not limited to:
Zoom
Sync
MS Office suite
