The City of Red Deer Looking for Regulatory Analyst at Red Deer, AB Full Time

taking the lead role in the City’s regulatory filings and interventions with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) respecting transmission tariff

taking the lead role in filing the City’s annual Rule 005 financial reporting including implications from USA, IFRS, etc.

performing key functions in restructuring and maintaining the Electric Utility’s transmission capital and depreciation accounting.

Maintaining the rate model used in calculating distribution rates.

Regulatory analysis and research

Job Requirements:
Education

University degree, or equivalent, in engineering, finance or economics

Qualified for a Professional Engineer or Chartered Professional Accountant designation

Experience

4 to 6 years of work experience preferably in a utility environment

Competencies

Excellent knowledge of utility operation and utility accounting

Good understanding of the utility regulatory processes of Alberta

Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Proficiency in computers particularly in database management and applications

Excellent communication skills, both in oral and writing

Working Conditions:
General office environment

Requirement of highway driving

Occasional exposure to electrical hazards

Affiliation: Exempt

Hours of Work: 80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
