The Conference Board of Canada Looking for Business Development Representative at Ottawa, ON Full Time

We are currently looking for candidates for a full-time permanent position as a Business Development Representative. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving subscription-based sales, reaching out to prospective clients via email, social media and by making outbound calls. This includes creating awareness around Conference Board of Canada’s subscription or membership-based products identifying viable prospects, quickly developing rapport, and helping leads through the conversion process. The successful candidate has persuasive abilities and can use creative methods for generating new opportunities and selling products.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills, and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role.

About the Role

Some of the things you will do every day:

• Drive sales performance for The Conference Board of Canada’s subscription-based products or membership-based products.
• Lead outbound campaigns to actively promote and sell subscription-based product or membership-based products.
• Follow-up and qualify contacts from web registrations, promotions, events and other marketing and sales activities.
• Use vertical knowledge and industry insights to confidently discuss The Conference Board of Canada’s subscription-based products or membership-based products.
• Research prospective customers to identify contacts and roles with decision-making authority.
• Actively use social media, email, phone, and various creative customer engagement approaches to secure scheduled appointments.
• Strategize and collaborate with internal colleagues and stakeholders.
• Update tracking systems and tools with customer information, sales activities, and opportunity details to use for account planning purposes.
• Act as an ambassador for The Conference Board of Canada to our clients and provide them with superior world-class customer experience.
• Commitment to producing high quality work and demonstrating professional values in all aspects of work and interactions with colleagues and customers.

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum five years’ experience in a business customer sales environment.
• Completion of post-secondary education in business administration, marketing, or sales related discipline.
• Successful record of prospecting for new business by actively executing regular outbound sales activity (calls, emails, securing booked appointments).
• Proven experience building excellent client relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to consistently exceed performance objectives.
• Advanced communication skills, both orally and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Through a combination of experience and natural ability has developed a high degree of competence in:
  • Communication – Confident, relevant, creative, professional, business acumen that adapts appropriate to situation
  • Negotiation – Ability to drive negotiation discussions to work in your favor
  • Networking – Identifies the customer’s buying centre, builds connections and can work with various internal departments to ignite interest and confirmed meetings
  • Ownership – Completes tasks, strives for excellence, and takes initiative while being resourceful.
  • Planning, Accountability and Execution – Creates, defines, and executes with clear and realistic objectives to reach individual and team objectives
• Ability to travel within Canada.
• Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset.
