JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior Logistics Manager (Closed Van) -MONTREAL

The GTI GROUP is looking to add a Senior Logistics Manager (Closed Van) to its team. We are looking for someone who are dedicated to continual improvement of their skillset as it pertains to logistics. As a Senior Logistics Manager (Closed Van), you will prospect, negotiate, and secure carriers, mainly on the closed van side of the business, to move available freight within the network and consult with the Sales team to secure capacity at profitable margins for future opportunities.

Senior Logistics Manager (Closed Van)

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Closed Van department
• Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and coordinate all activities to achieve the budgeted sales, pricing, and gross margin objectives and goals established by Company.
• Prospect new carriers using our technology and data mining tools.
• Negotiate the rates with new and existing carriers.
• Scan the boards of available loads looking for freight that fits your carrier’s network.
• Make core carrier calls to ensure we are meeting the needs of our transportation partners.
• Perform conflict resolution between core carriers and the company.
• Offer/analyze rate suggestions with pricing department on contractual RFP’s.
• Initiate and maintain effective relationships with customers and carriers for branch growth.
• Direct all operational aspects including distribution operations, customer service, human resources, administration, and sales
• Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws
• Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company
• Develop and recommend annual budget that will ensure the highest service levels to our customer along with achieving revenue and profit goals
• Share knowledge with other branches and headquarters on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs
• Assist Capacity Group when needed to help cover heavy freight days.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and evaluate market conditions.

Experience:

• 4 years of logistics experience.
• 2 years of carrier sourcing experience
• 2+ years of sales or customer services experience.
• Knowledge of various freight market trends based on seasonality, geography, and specialized carrier types.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Strong comprehension of various transportation methods and modes.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage ambiguity.
• Excellent customer service and employee relations skills.
• Ability to make decisions in a high stress environment.
• Strong ability to use organizational skills to plan tasks effectively. and use forward thinking to predict future changes.
• Ability to participate and build effective teams.
• Ability to process, workflows, policies, and projects as assigned.
• Ability to exude confidence and gain credibility with carriers.
• Strong proficiency with computer applications and software.
• Ability to influence and persuade others while being able to solve problems and provide effective solutions.
