Position Description

As a key member of Our Client’s head office team, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with month-end closing activities, analyze key performance metrics and operations, and play a crucial role in financial consolidation of portfolio business units. The position also involves coaching finance team members on accounting policies and governance. The ideal candidate will be driven, results-oriented, and hands-on in problem-solving. Excellent business acumen and attention to detail are essential to resolve issues promptly. The role demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The office is located in Toronto, Ontario.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and consolidate monthly financial packages for management, providing value-added analysis/commentary on portfolio P&L performance.
• Understand the financial statements of each business unit by reviewing variance analysis provided by business unit finance leads, summarizing root causes at the portfolio level, and reporting findings concisely.
• Review business unit cash and balance sheets to ensure adherence to working capital metrics/targets.
• Coordinate and prepare customer invoices, assist in monthly reconciliation of key billing and AR related accounts for head office (e.g., work in progress, AR, deferred revenue).
• Assist in workforce management by tracking headcount movements and departmental allocation, and coordinate staff expense reimbursement.
• Compile quarterly disclosure packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial statement note disclosures from business units.
• Create/review monthly checks to ensure accuracy and compliance of subledgers and books to IFRS.
• Review other monthly key metric deliverables from business units, including attrition analysis, organic growth, recurring revenue tracker, and average price increases tracker.
• Own the forecast roll-up process for the portfolio, presenting forecast changes and challenging assumptions from business unit finance leads.
• Assist with and facilitate the preparation of interim and year-end working papers for accounting and tax audits.

Business Unit Finance Support & Ad hoc

• Continuously work with business units to ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls, mitigating financial and reporting risks.
• Build relationships and provide excellent customer service to business unit teams, both within finance and across other departments as applicable.
• Collaborate seamlessly with head office, internal, and external auditors during interim reviews and year-end audits, presenting accurate supporting documents.
• Identify efficiencies in current reporting processes to ensure concise reporting, automating reports where inefficiencies are identified.
• Handle ad-hoc financial reporting requests such as deep dives into target subjects, providing meaningful insights and identifying key risks or areas for improvement.
• Assist with pre and post-acquisition reporting, helping new acquisitions establish their reporting infrastructure, and performing sample testing as part of due diligence for prospective acquisitions in a rapidly growing portfolio.
• Coach finance team members and explain accounting concepts as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (e.g., BBA, Comm.) and completion of an accounting designation (CPA).
• Over 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role within a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to efficiently handle large data sets and present summaries for management review.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to adjust and respond professionally to changing priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to interact with all levels of management.
• Proactive attitude and analytical thinking, capable of driving business initiatives from start to finish.
• Experience with Great Plains and SAP BPC accounting software is an asset.
• A can-do attitude, ability to set goals, and develop schedules to manage competing deliverables.
