The O’Dwyer Group is looking for an experienced Bilingual Accounts Receivable Specialist for our profitable, fast growing transport, leasing and finance company in the GTA that provides acquisition and management of transport equipment for temperature control, intermodal and specialized freight applications

Job Duties

• Collaborate with the Controller to maintain collection goals and general A/R performance levels.
• Communicate with internal/external sales representatives and accounting department as necessary to complete job duties.
• Receive and fill out receipts for third party payments, whether by cash, check, credit, and other forms of payment.
• Post and reconcile customer payments to general ledgers.
• Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records.
• Balance daily A/R batches; prepare and distribute reports and statistics to key personnel.
• Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its customers.
• Where applicable, evaluate and process insurance denials and/or late insurance claims.
• Form collection strategies to mitigate customer objections to making timely A/R payments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Bilingual in French and English
• 5+ years direct experience in an A/R capacity.
• Experience working with the Ariba Procurement System to confirm customer Purchase Orders and process payments is an asset
• Experience with credit agencies’ reporting and analyzing credit scores.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
• Strong knowledge of collection regulations and fair credit practices.
• Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
• Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations.
• Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills in order to handle late payments and delinquent accounts.
• Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications.
