As a Construction Estimator, your core duties will include the following:
Reporting to the president of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and estimate budget costs of materials, labour, equipment and subcontractors for construction projects based on contract bids, and quotations, studying architectural plans and specifications,
- Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations,
- Establish and maintain the tendering processes,
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures,
- Write up and present budgets, reports, and project plans,
- Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting info,
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of the project,
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors,
- Develops bids for construction projects,
- Works closely with Architects, Engineers, Owners, Subcontractors and the Project Management team
- G2 or G class driver’s license required (not a compulsion)
Requirements:
- Must have 5 – 8 years of proven Canadian experience within the commercial construction industry
- Must have proven project management experience
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in architecture, or a similar field or completion of a college program in civil or construction engineering technology is normally required,
- Certificate in general construction, roofing, electrician etc.,
- Or several years of related experience is required,
- Certification by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is an asset but not necessarily required.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence ( a clean drivers abstract required )
