Job Summary
Responsible for assisting with the marketing, coordinating and developing of related engineering placement programs to local, national and international employers and professional associations for the Applied Science Co-op Program. Responsible for the coordination of advisor site visits; organization of student/industry events; co-op student interview coordination; and, posting of Applied Science co-op job opportunities. Responsible for assisting in the production of branding materials and publications. Work closely and collaboratively with other Program Assistants.
This role involves in-person event management and meetings with external partners, which requires candidates to be able to work on campus. While some hybrid work is possible, candidates will be expected to be on campus for certain events and meetings and due to the event coordination parts of the role to be able to work flexible hours that may include evenings.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Senior Manager, Business Development and Industry Engagement. Works in close cooperation with Co-op Advisors and employers to determine the effectiveness of program in meeting stakeholder requirements. Works with employers to market, develop, maintain and monitor academic-related work terms.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Failure to adequately assess employers could result in students being placed in inappropriate work environments. Failure to apply policies and procedures established by the Ministry of Skills, Training and Labour could result in loss of accreditation and/or financial support. Poor judgment, errors or lateness in project deliverables has a significant impact on the program and may lead to loss of student jobs, potential financial support and the reputation and professionalism of the Co-op Office. He/she/They will be required to identify problem areas, come up with possible solutions, implement change and evaluate processes.
Supervision Received
The Business Development Assistant works under the direction and management of the Senior Manager, Business Development and Industry Engagement. They will work independently with minimal supervision and will be required to exercise tact and discretion. They will receive specific instructions only on unusual problems or on matters that depart radically from established policies and procedures. They will also work in cooperation with the Co-op Advisors.

Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation, plus two year post-secondary diploma, plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
