The Manager, Global Learning provides operational and strategic leadership for the full range of global learning activities (including exchange, summer study abroad, Global Immersion, and Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) events and initiatives for professional graduate degrees at UBC Sauder, as well as international summer study programs for inbound visiting students from other universities. The incumbent works closely with other Student Experience Managers to create, implement, manage and evaluate programs/initiatives that increase student engagement and satisfaction and support student success.
The Manager, Global Learning is responsible for providing leadership that supports the University’s international student initiatives (ISI). This includes designing and implementing programs and practices that support the success of all international students at RHL. The incumbent is expected to develop positive relationships with faculty members teaching across professional graduate degree programs. They also work with the RHL Admissions and Recruitment team to support the efforts to attract and retain international students throughout the admissions process.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Director, MBA Programs. Receives direction from the Assistant Dean, Robert H. Lee Graduate School, and other members of the RHL senior leadership/management team.
This role is highly visible to the external community and has continuous contact with the university constituency at large and with UBC’s International Partners. As a member of the RHL management team, the Manager liaises with numerous UBC Sauder and central UBC services such as Enrolment Services, UBC Go Global, UBC International Student Advising and several UBC Sauder departments such as LTS, Canaccord Learning Commons, David Lam Library, Undergraduate (BCom) Program Office and Business Career Centre.
Work Performed
Major responsibilities fall into the following areas: Global Learning (including Global Immersion Experience, Study Abroad & Exchange, Global Network for Advanced Management, Dual Degree Options), International Student Services and Short-Term Group Programs. For each of these, the Manager, Global Learning evaluates the effectiveness of programs, services and service delivery; determines and implements changes to increase student participation and to improve the student experience.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The incumbent makes critical decisions to design, manage, and deliver programs and services, ensuring the achievement of faculty-specific student experience objectives. The quality of programs and services directly depends on these decisions. The incumbent manages relationships with students, employees and faculty and must balance the objectives of various stakeholders with conflicting interests. Decisions must align with school goals and the university’s vision.
Decisions impact academic program quality and student management effectiveness. Poor decisions can harm the marketability and reputation of UBC Sauder School of Business and the Robert H. Lee Graduate School, as well as the integrity of RHL graduate programs. Errors and failure to meet student expectations may damage the school’s image and result in losing exceptional students to competitor schools. Sound decisions are crucial for maintaining the school’s confidence, raising global ranking and reputation, accessing resources, and ensuring long-term success.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Director, MBA Program. Works under general directives, exercises significant judgment, tact, and discretion.
Supervision Given
Hires, trains, disciplines, provides ongoing feedback and manages the day to day activities of support and temporary employees and student workers of the Student Experience Team. Leads groups of students abroad.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three to four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
