The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new face to be our newest Communications Manager. Reporting to The Chamber’s Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Manager is often the one behind the scenes creating, sharing and celebrating our members, crafting compelling messages, and one of the driving forces behind The Chamber’s voice and image. As the Communications Manager, you get to be a part of the Chamber buzz at events and amplify our voice.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY 

• Work directly with the Director of Marketing and Communications to execute The Chamber’s Communications Strategy and bring ideas into action. 
• Assume the role of lead writer, crafting engaging content like event scripts, media releases, and articles that diverse audiences can relate to and enjoy. 
• Facilitate effective media relations between The Chamber and external media sources. 
• Attend our events, capturing moments through photos and videos to share on social media. 
• Take charge of our social media, sharing exciting content regularly. 
• Work closely with other departments to plan and promote other events and programs. 
• Keep things running smoothly by handling day-to-day administrative tasks.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

Required Qualifications: 

• Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing. 
• Experience in a communications-related role, such as a communications coordinator, specialist or assistant, PR coordinator, etc. 
• Knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices. 
• Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva. 
• Quick and resourceful problem solver, skilled at efficiently resolving issues and finding practical solutions. 
• Capable and eager to adapt to shifts in organizational priorities. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Media relations and public relation experience is considered an asset. 
• Creative Communications education is considered an asset. 
• Experience in a non-profit organization is considered an asset. 
• College/university degree is considered an asset. 
• Understanding of best practices in both print and electronic communications. 
• Experience using Constant Contact or Mailchimp. 
• Familiarity and experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. 

Skills: 

• Capable of both independent work and collaborative teamwork, demonstrating consistent and efficient communication to achieve goals. 
• Able to convey ideas clearly, crafting compelling messages tailored to engage effectively with diverse audiences on various platforms. 
• Proficient in meeting deadlines and delivering well-organized work, demonstrating a commitment to timeliness and quality presentation. 
• Able to execute well-organized tasks within a fast-paced environment, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes. 
• Open to taking initiative for continuous learning and personal growth in communications, staying updated on trends and new technologies. 
• Demonstrates a commitment to valuing and promoting respect, equity, and inclusion while committing to continuous learning.
