The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Knowledge, the VP of Sales provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the organization’s sales function. As the organization’s senior-most sales leader for the Clinical Education portfolio, the VP is accountable for overall sales organization performance, the profitable achievement of sales organization goals, and for alignment of sales objectives with firm business strategy. The VP will contribute to the success and growth of the business for key healthcare professional platforms MDBriefCase (www.mdbriefcase.com) and Oncology Education (www.OncologyEducation.com)

You Will Have The Opportunity To:

• Drive sales results and growth in the core market of Canada
• Manage a team of sales directors and provide strong sales and results-driven leadership while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance, and ethical behavior
• Establish and prioritize critical performance measures for all sales roles; oversee the equitable allocation of organization objectives across all sales channels, markets, and personnel; and ensure all key sales and sales management associates are held accountable for assigned results
• Provide leadership, direction and support to the sales function, managing relationships with all sponsors and partners, and working closely with operations and marketing team members, with a keen ability to deliver on forecasts, clients’ expectations and goals.
• Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume, market share, and other key financial performance objectives.
• Identify and validate new sales opportunities that will drive the company’s growth and build go-to-market and sales strategies to attract current and new pharmaceutical and healthcare accounts, and seek out development of new clients in all markets.
• Be actively involved in all client and partner programs and services, developing a broad and deep knowledge of all initiatives, and establishing productive peer-to-peer relationships with customers, partners and prospects.
• Align the sales organization’s objectives with firm business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
• Accountable for effective sales organization design, including sales job roles, sales channel design, and sales resource deployment.
• Identify trends in the industry, instituting new programs or products and evaluation of new products and services.

What You Will Bring

• University degree in business or related discipline
• 10+ years of collective experience in sales management/leadership
• At least 5 years experience in a supervisory/management capacity
• Sales and business development acumen
• Strategic foresight and strong ability to identify growth opportunities for additional business
• Specific experience in Continuing Medical Education, pharmaceutical marketing, and/or pharmaceutical advertising industries an asset
• Experience in the field of oncology healthcare an asset
• Strong attention to detail, client service, and a highly proactive “take ownership” attitude
• Proven ability to foster strong client relationships, and support efforts to generate new business opportunities
• Demonstrated ability to understand client objectives and translate them into solutions
• Entrepreneurial, self-starter with a hands-on approach
• Organized thinker with the ability to implement growth while successfully maintaining the quality of services and outcomes
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Leadership and ability to implement a vision and plan with a particular focus
• Strong problem solving capabilities
