THRIVE Child Development Centre is seeking new Directors for Board of Directors.

THRIVE is one of Ontario’s twenty-one charitable, non-profit children’s treatment centres, offering a broad range of community-based rehabilitation, developmental and related support services to over 1200 children and their families residing in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma. Their diversities span the physical, perceptual, communication, developmental and neurodevelopmental domains. Our integrated range of services and supports recognizes the changing physical, emotional and psychological aspects of a child’s development.
As Algoma’s pre-eminent pediatric rehabilitation and development leader, we rely on an engaged & active Board of Directors to lead our growth and development. The Board currently oversees the activities of its 2022-2025 Strategic Plan.
The Governance Role:
THRIVE’s Board of Directors is comprised of 9 volunteer members who reflect the geographic and demographic diversity of the Algoma District. Membership on the Board of Directors is drawn widely to achieve the balance of skills and expertise required to enable the Board to fulfill its governance responsibilities.
Our Board of Directors meets on the last Tuesday of each month from September through June. Meetings take place in the Centre and begin at 5:00 pm, usually lasting about 1 ½ to 2 hours. Our Annual Meeting takes place in September; the Directors do not meet over July and August. The term of office for Directors is 3 years with the opportunity to continue for a second 3-year term.

The Board also encourages applicants with children/youth actively receiving services from THRIVE, as well as those with a special interest in francophone or Aboriginal/First Nations/ Métis communities.
