Tlicho Investment Corporation Looking for Human Resources Officer (X2) at Yellowknife, NT Full Time

The Tlicho Investment Corporation is seeking enthusiastic, experienced and dependable individuals to join our team as Human Resources Officer (Two six-month term positions available with the possiblity of leading to permanent full time employment). Although primarily focused on recruitment activities to support the recruitment for seven companies, the Human Resources Officer will also contribute their knowledge and skills in the field of Human Resources, to other activities to include employee relations and recognition, employee engagement and benefits administration. Reports to: Vice President of Human Resources & Administration

Term: Six-month term with possiblity of leading to permanent full time employment

Location: Yellowknife, NT with travel to northern remote communities and worksites as required.

Summary:
The Human Resources Officer is recruitment and selection focused to ensure target staffing levels are met with a focus on achieving operational needs. Will work within the HR team to continually evaluate systems, processes, branding, and other touch points that directly affect recruitment. This position will be active in recommending and adhering to best practices for recruitment and selection and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and regulations. A successful candidate will have experience in recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration.

The duties of the Human Resources Officer include, but are not limited to the following:

• Providing complete, accurate, and inspiring information to candidates about the company and position;
• Interviewing candidates according to the established processes and criteria which include screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, evaluating candidates, checking references and processing applications;
• Assisting new hires with documents, orientation and follow up;
• Coordinating the completion of pre-employment processes (such as security and medical clearances when required);
• Assisting the HR team with other primary HR functions/service delivery;
• Creating electronic files and maintaining contracts for new employees;
• Enrolling new employees into the Benefits and Pension plans as applicable;
• Maintaining employee data in the HRIS;
• Other duties and projects as required.

Education and Knowledge Required:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Human Resources Officer with a focus on recruitment and employee relations;
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or a related field is an asset;
• Knowledge base of the Northwest Territories Employment Standards Act and Regulations, the NWT Human Rights Act, and experience collaborating with Indigenous groups essential;
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs and HRIS;
• Knowledge of mining, construction, retail/hospitality, property management, equipment maintenance industries considered an asset.

Abilities and Competencies Required:

• Proven work experience as a HR Professional;
• Dependable to represent the Tlicho Investment Corporation brand;
• Strong communication skills;

Experience performing the above functions in northern remote working environments, particularly serving Indigenous communities is as strong asset. Although not mandatory, the ability to speak and understand the Tlicho language would also be considered a strong asset for this role.
