TNO seeking a Violence Against Women+ Counsellor to join our team in in a full-time contract role.
You will be successful in this role, if you have a post-secondary education (Diploma, Certificate, etc.), or equivalent, with specialization in Social Work and/or Women Studies. A professional with at least two to four years’ experience in the field of supportive counselling and advocacy for women who have been abused. You are skillful in crisis intervention, with experience in working with diverse communities, and knowledgeable of the laws, policies, and procedures related to family violence. Preference will be given to those with experience in providing support to abused women.
Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, you will conduct intake and assessment in person, virtually, or over the telephone and provide various options for community-based services. Providing solutions-oriented brief therapy and supportive counseling to female+ victims of intimate abuse within a framework of solutions.
Vaccination Requirement – You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to any valid medical or religious exemption from vaccination as provided by the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Screening – As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Job Type: Full-time contract position until March 31, 2024
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Some evenings and weekends may be required
Work Location: In person (Toronto, ON M4H 1R1)
