Toppits Foods Ltd Looking for Logistics Supervisor at Woodbridge, ON Full Time

Role: Logistics Supervisor-(Full Time)

Logistic Supervisor, reporting to the President, will be Responsible for the accurate logistical management of all goods coming in from overseas or the US/Canada to our 3rd party warehouses or direct to our customers, as well as exportation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervising Logistics Department and all logistics staff
• Deliver efficient and cost effective logistics work. o Provide freight rates and expertise to the sales/procurement team in timely manner
• Manages problems with late or missing shipments.
• Managing and coordinating inbound air shipments of perishable product from other countries
• Importing/Exporting Samples – o Facilitate the arrival or exporting of any samples: picking up at airport, couriering, customs clearing, submitting to CFIA and/or FDA.

• Answering and investigating any import or export questions/needs.
• Exporting Shipments – o Contacting consignees, truckers, customs brokers, steamship lines o ensuring all necessary paperwork for exportation of goods is complete o Contacting government agencies.

• Analyze freight to determine if there are problematize/costly lanes and customers causing high cost o Review and sign off on freight/importing invoices o Maintain relationships with truckers.

• Meet with new truckers or meet with truckers to negotiate better rates
• Resolve miscellaneous problems like claims on damages etc.

• Work with Customs Broker in getting duty rates on current and new products. o Making sure they are classified properly.

• In charge of all logistics work for the company including the plant.
• Provide quality support to all business divisions and the plant from logistics aspects for business growth
• Monitoring and overseeing the release CFIA inspection samples
• Follow-up on any dispute storage and demurrage charges
• Liaison with third warehouse to provide inbound details, appointments, hold instructions.
• Act as back-up to the warehouse team to release samples, communicate return/inbound info to the warehouse/request cycle counts, etc.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-year transportation and logistics experience
• Minimum 2- years in a supervisor role
• Supply chain and logistics education an asset
• Experience in an importing and exporting environment an asset
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Thrives under pressure
