Job Summary:
We are seeking a strong Construction Manager who wants to step into an entrepreneurial company and build high quality and efficient rental buildings in Toronto.
About Toronto Standard:
Toronto Standard is a real estate developer and long-term owner of multiunit rental housing in Toronto. Our focus is on developing four to six storey rental properties that contribute to Toronto’s urban fabric while providing great homes within neighbourhoods to young professionals, young families, and downsizers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide overall management from pre-construction to completion including design, coordination, budget, and schedule in conjunction with the site supervisor.
• Evaluate, select and liaise with all outsourced constructors, architects, engineers, suppliers, and designers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, approval agencies and authorities to secure project approvals.
• Meet owners, architects and other stakeholders in a professional manner and communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company.
• Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, people, resources, materials and ensure quality objectives are met.
• Submit project reports and communicate with management about project progress and areas of risk that need to be addressed.
• Coordinate with consultants and inspectors to ensure proper documentation, required inspections for all aspects of construction to occupancy is completed.
• Ensure required safety meetings are implemented and all required job site safety inspections are completed.
• Coordinate contracts of trades and material ordering per construction schedule in conjunction with site staff.
• Implement protocol on sites to track equipment, labour and materials.
• Develop detailed schedules for all projects.
• Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives.
• Provide status reporting project milestones, deliverables, risks and issues.
• Schedule and lead project meetings.
• Oversee complete project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work.
• Ensure site management are adhering to standard work and processes.
• Review and continuously improve project procedures and operating guidelines.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years experience in construction project management and coordination
- Ability to work independently on a construction project from start to finish
