General Accountability
Responsible for the management, administration, co-ordination and inspection of various contracts and projects issued by the Property, Planning and Development Department and by non TTC agencies (municipal and private organizations) which impact on TTC facilities or operations.
Key Job Functions
Coordinating a variety of civil/structural/track projects and contracts
Preparing full specifications for contracted work, reviewing contract documents, requests for proposals for consultants, and recommending for award
Analyzing current practices for internal construction contracts, and developing procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs;
Scheduling workcars, power cuts, watchpersons, and TTC labour required to complete work, including performing own planned power cuts
Directing activities of TTC unionized personnel and contractors/consultants involved
Preparing payment certificates which require the verification of contract quantities completed and/or delivered materials, negotiating and preparing contract change orders
Ensuring TTC safety policies and those of other agencies are adhered to
Maintaining proper documentation for projects including a detailed diary of site construction activities, records, transmittals, approvals, etc.
Representing the TTC at pre-construction and construction meetings with contractors, consultants, city representatives, and developers
Performing pre and post construction surveys of TTC structures to ensure that third party damage s is repaired
Reviewing and circulating development and lease proposals to affected departments
Reviewing and arranging circulation of Public Utility Coordinating Committee applications to affected departments
Inspecting development and utility construction affecting facilities
Liaising with various utilities and contractors regarding the location of TTC facilities, and ensuring that no damage is sustained from activities adjacent to same
Preparing routine correspondence, memos, letters, reports etc.
Developing and maintaining a good rapport with municipal and other external representatives
Participate in the TTC’s customer service Ambassador Program

Education and Experience
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Civil Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
Several years of directly related work experience
Additional Requirements
Sound knowledge of various engineering design disciplines
Knowledge of construction related practices, codes, standards and regulations
Knowledge of project management concepts and practices involving several technical fields
Sound judgement; and well developed analytical, administrative and leadership skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of property law, union and trade agreements and construction contracts
Ability to perform liaison and co-ordination tasks associated with land development proposals and agreements
Ability to develop and implement procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of section/department operations
Ability to direct and motivate internal and external personnel to achieve project completion
Proficiency in the use of a computer and associated Microsoft applications
A valid Province of Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence; required to travel to various offices for meetings and to various land development projects to inspect facilities
Night shift work or attendance at on site meetings during off shifts may be required
Will be required to successfully complete Power Cutter Training and Subway/SRT Rulebook Certification
