JOB INFORMATION
This posting is for the Special Vehicle Operator position, which involves shifts and off days as noted above. The primary work location will be the Hillcrest Yard, however, work reporting locations may vary as dictated by work assignments.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operating specialized service-vehicles such as, but not limited to, special purpose cranes, truck mounted cranes, tractor trailers, extension trailers, PEM rail handling machines, tamping units, sand delivery vehicles, etc., in a safe and efficient manner
Operating specialized work-vehicles for the delivery of tools, materials and equipment to work sites, loading and unloading cargo, handling and placement of rail or pre-fabricated track panels, tamping ballast, etc.
Performing daily service checks on the vehicles
Operating vehicles pertaining to the Equipment Operator job classification, as required
Performing a variety of manual track construction tasks when a vehicle is not available or required
Setting-out traffic delineators, barricades, track lights, flags and track set-ups, etc.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Training normally obtained through completion of a Grade 10 education
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including published operating/safety rules and regulations
Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with the Control Centre through radio and telephone protocol to effectively exchange information and instructions
Must have a valid non-probationary class “AZ” province of Ontario driver’s licence, or better
Experience in crane operation (0 to 8 tons), including 1,000 hours of practical experience in order to become certified as a Branch 1 Crane Operator
Must attend and successfully complete the TTC’s Operations Training Centre truck driving program
Must attend and successfully complete the TTC’s Track Maintainer training program
Must attend and successfully complete TTC training programs for the operation of various specialized vehicles/equipment pertinent to the job, such as sand delivery vehicle, rail-handling equipment, etc.
Must attend and successfully complete external training programs, as determined by the TTC, for Branch 2 crane operation (up to 16 tons), in order to become certified as Branch 2 Crane Operator
