General Accountability
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, this position is responsible for providing track maintenance expertise for investigation and assessment of the condition of the Subway and SRT track network, assist track design engineer in developing solutions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient track system. This involves performing design reviews of existing track and track components for feasibility of installation and maintainability, providing input into designing and improvement of track components and systems provide expertise in effective and efficient maintenance and construction methodology of track system, inspection, assessment and diagnostics of site conditions and conducting root cause analysis.
Key Job Functions
Providing track maintenance expertise for investigating and assessing the condition of the Subway and SRT track network
Undertaking studies of track maintenance and suggesting methods for improving performance, efficiency, and/or reducing cost
Undertaking studies of problem areas to determine root cause and provide recommendation for corrective action
Reviewing shop drawings and designs, inspecting and approving track materials
Reviewing and inspecting special track work, tangent and curved track, reaction rails, power rails and associated fastener and track support infrastructure
Assisting with the development of track maintenance and maintenance engineering capital and operating budget and scopes
Conducting periodic inspection of Subway and SRT tracks with respect to track switches, rails, power rails, and fasteners
Analyzing work requirements, developing and implementing scheduled rehabilitation and capital projects to ensure all work is prioritized
Assisting engineers in designing and re-engineering of track components and track related construction projects
Participates in the TTC customer service Ambassador Program
Responsible for treating passengers and employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employee

Education and Experience
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Additional Requirements
Sound knowledge of track maintenance principles, methods, practices, and techniques related to track inspection, construction, maintenance, and emergency repair
Must have the ability to read design drawings and the use of spreadsheet application
Must have the ability to carry out feasibility and constructability studies; evaluate alternative proposals; and assess construction and maintenance impacts
Must have the ability to observe and implement TTC safety requirements at work place.
Must be familiar with industry standards such as American Railway Engineering Maintenance Association (AREMA)
Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passenger and employees
