Torus Biomedical Solutions Inc. Looking for Machine Learning Engineer – Medical Imaging at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Full Time

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in medical imaging to play a key role in developing advanced algorithms for analyzing and interpreting X-ray images. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a pipeline for simulating synthetic X-ray images, as well as training and testing neural network models for image analysis tasks in surgery.

Responsibilities

• Implementing machine learning models to segment intraoperative X-rays to extract bone landmarks
• Validating the accuracy and performance of the models based on real intraoperative X-rays
• Implementing a pipeline for simulating synthetic X-ray images from CT data
• Developing pipeline for processing and labeling image datasets for training and testing neural net models
• Reviewing and analyzing the latest literature on medical imaging to incorporate state-of-the-art techniques
• Utilizing open-source models and datasets for prototyping machine learning models

Qualifications

• BSc or preferably Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or related field
• Proficiency in computer vision and Python-based computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, scikit-image, Pillow
• Strong proficiency in Python and Python-based libraries such as PyTorch, NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn
• Familiarity with version control and software lifecycle management tools for collaborative development
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently design and implement solutions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with medical imaging technologies and software
• Knowledge of X-ray physics and image formation principles
• Familiarity with X-ray projection principles for modeling projection, attenuation, and noise injection
• Previous experience in a healthcare or medical technology industry
